#14 (And Hence Love Waned)

 AND HENCE LOVE WANED

The once irrefutable belief

That love is forever

Became a lie with her departure,

Her newfound ignorance and anger

Following me everywhere like a shadow

Clouding my thoughts, making me grieve

Reminiscing the beautiful times we had.

Oh we held hands, talked like friends

And maybe, just maybe, had fallen for each other,

We’d walked miles smiling and laughing,

Teasing, getting closer than ever been

Ashes to ashes is now what it is

With the fire ceased and now the smoke

Hanging between, rendering us unfamiliar.

Matters of the heart, as they say,

Beguiles the mind, and puppeteers the tongue,

With eyes not seeing much far beyond apparent sublimity

And the thoughts staying hence on impression and admiration.

Now with the notions of ‘love’ ebbing

The heart sits alone, crying and the mind, restless

Desperate and addicted to the intimacies of the past.
